Writer Arend M. Remmers and actor Eskindir Tesfay had long worked on ideas for a martial arts movie project with not only spectacular fight scenes but also a compelling story. After travelling to South Africa and reading about child soldiers in Sierra Leone, Arend had the idea to build a story on real hardships in Africa. Born in a war torn Eritrea, Eskindir himself is of African descent and his own life story further added to the inspiration.

"What we want to achieve with “Guerilla’s Blood” is to create a character driven story based on a mixture of fictional and truthful circumstances and also to develop thrilling fights by merely using realistic martial arts techniques. One could say that like "District 9" created a totally new science-fiction atmosphere, "Guerilla's Blood" has an equally fresh angle on the martial arts genre." - Arend M. Remmers

In 2008 the Berlin based production company Lopta Film produced and shot about ten minutes of “Guerilla’s Blood”, focusing on an unarmed fight between Noah (Eskindir Tesfay) and Michael (Swen Raschka) set in Johannesburg. We wanted to test the fighting style and showcase our vision of the martial arts later used in the film. From this material we decided to edit a short teaser to get people interested in the project. As yet we are looking for co-producers, investors and sponsors for "Guerilla's Blood".
